Committee is a Bengali voluntary organisation set up to promote Bengali history & culture to the wider community, promoting intercultural understanding by organising seminars, cultural events & publications.

Some current activities of the Nirmul Committee:

The Shadinata Trust - Educating second &third generation British Bengalis about their historical, cultural & linguistic roots;

The Baishaki Mela - The biggest annual open air Bengali new year fetival in UK/Europe.

Nirmul Committee is a founder member of the festival and currently chairs the Mela committee;

It also produces a Bengali info-magazine aimed at young people and produced by young people;

There are plans of producing a number of publications and films/videos. These will highlight prominent figures of Bangladesh and cover subjects relevant to the Bengali community.
