Campaigns
The Swadhinata Trust are involved in various campaigns to bring about justice. The links on this page reflect some of the issues that the Swadhinata Trust consider to be important in achieving a just and peaceful world.
On 7 March 1971, Bangladesh’s independence leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman delivered a historic speech at Ramna Race Course (now Suhrawardy Udyan) in Dhaka to over a million people. In his address, he expressed the struggle for freedom for the people of the then East Pakistan. He called for civil disobedience and urged every house to become a fortress. This speech informally declared Bangladesh’s independence from West Pakistan. Watch the full speech here.
