Spotlight: Prime Time group meeting at Cubitt Town Library, 30 October 2025
Swadhinata Trust members Val Harding and Abu Sahid gave a talk to the Prime Time group for the over-50’s held at the library and run by their Customer Service Advisor, Sotiris Kyriacou.
They talked about the Swadhinata Trust, including the Heritage Walks. There were about 10 attendees, mostly women from the locality of the Isle of Dogs. Everyone was extremely interested. To begin with, Val and Abu gave some history about Bangladesh as participants asked for this and were not familiar with Bangladesh’s history and geography. Val and Aby started with a map of the world to show where Bangladesh is. There was a lively discussion, and it had been a very useful session for local residents to gain a better understanding of the Bangladeshi community.
